Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. has announced a new 1100 W board‑mounted power factor correction (PFC) module, the industry’s first of its kind in a half‑brick form factor. Advanced Energy’s AIH03ZPFC is designed for applications in industrial, medical, defense and telecommunications systems where size, thermal performance and efficiency are critical.
Advanced Energy’s new 1100 W PFC half‑brick delivers the industry’s highest power density in a compact half‑brick form factor, enabling smaller, higher‑efficiency front‑end stages for servers, telecom and industrial power supplies.

Featuring a regulated, non-isolated 390 VDC output, the module delivers up to 97.3% peak efficiency — a 2.3% improvement over the company’s previous-generation PFCs — and increases power density by 44% to 380 W/in3.
The module includes features not typically associated with half-brick designs, such as internal inrush limiting and digital PMBus control and monitoring. Auxiliary power support enables external housekeeping functions while maintaining a compact footprint, allowing further miniaturization of customer power systems.
"This represents a significant advancement in power design, enabled by proprietary AE technology,” said David Richmond, Advanced Energy’s senior vice president, High Volume Products. “By combining 1100 W of power with extensive integrated functionality, Advanced Energy's AIH03ZPFC reduces losses by 46% compared to prior designs and sets new standards for power delivery, peak efficiency and capability in a half-brick PFC module."
A unity power factor across a wide 85 to 264 VAC input range and no power derating under low-input-voltage conditions simplify compliance and maximize usable power. The AIH03ZPFC is compatible with standard heatsinks and thermal solutions and can be deployed as a standalone PFC or paired with downstream DC-DC converters.
Baseplate contact cooling supports -20 to +100°C operation, with startup as low as -40°C. The design features an encapsulated standard 2.4 x 2.3 in (61 x 58.4 mm) half-brick form factor with an installed height of 0.52 in (13.3 mm). Integrating digital control, onboard monitoring, and protection features in a standard half-brick form factor enables high-density system designs while enhancing performance visibility and control.
