As an expert in electrical protection, Mersen is presenting its latest generation of high-performance fuses at PCIM 2026. The products offer optimized AC/DC performance and were specifically designed for the rapidly growing DC power systems market, while maintaining the fast-acting performance of Mersen AC legacy fuses. Mersen developed the high-performance fuses in close collaboration with leading companies in the fields of energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and data centers.

A new generation of high-performance AC/DC fuses

“The high-performance fuses combine the best AC/DC electrical characteristics in a single compact housing. This design not only saves space for equipment manufacturers and offers great flexibility in installation – it also significantly simplifies their procurement process” explains Loïs Gaillard, Marketing Product Manager at Mersen. Whereas they previously needed two different fuse types for AC and DC applications, only one is now required. The product range covers a very wide range of rated currents, and the fuses can be used as standard AC fuses, aR fuses or fast-acting fuses.

Designed for power conversion and key applications

Developed in close collaboration with leading companies, these high-performance fuses are fully aligned with real-world application requirements. The primary application area for Mersen’s new high-performance fuses is power electronics, power conversion systems like but not limited to inverters, SST, CS and MCS. These systems convert direct current – e.g., from PV and wind energy plants – into grid-compatible alternating current. All high-performance fuses undergo rigorous quality testing, most of which is conducted in Mersen’s own UL recognized test laboratory and external specialized institutes. The new high-performance fuses are manufactured on fully automated production lines in accordance with the latest technical standards (IEC, UL, CCC, RoHS, REACH, WEEE).

Mersen’s latest design was developed with a focus on improving quality while streamlining manufacturing and strengthening supply chain efficiency. Mersen also provides users with a range of data from simulation processes that demonstrate the fuse’s behavior in a customer-specific application. This allows the products to be optimally selected to match end-users the respective requirements. With the launch of the new high-performance fuses, with two new sizes released to address emerging DC application up to 1000 V/1000 A, Mersen underscores its commitment to offering sustainable, high-performance and efficient solutions for today and future applications.
