DI009N10PQ-AQ | Fast, Efficient and Compact Switching Solution for Reliable Automotive Lighting Systems
Modern electronic automotive peripherals, such as lighting systems, require reliable semiconductor switching solutions. Although such conventional systems typically operate at 12 V, the semiconductor components within them must withstand significantly higher transient voltages.
To address these requirements, Diotec Semiconductor, a semiconductor manufacturer with its headquarters in Germany, offers the DI009N10PQ-AQ, a 100 V N-channel MOSFET featuring a continuous drain current of 9 A, a typical on-state resistance (RDS(on)) of 103 mΩ, and a maximum junction temperature of 175°C. Housed in a compact PowerQFN 5×6 package, the DI009N10PQ-AQ is AEC-Q101 qualified for automotive applications.
Protection Against Automotive Voltage Transients
One of the most demanding electrical disturbances in automotive systems is a load dump event. This can occur when the battery connection is interrupted while the alternator continues generating power, resulting in a potentially damaging overvoltage transient. According to ISO 16750-2, automotive electrical systems can be subjected to load dump transients with amplitudes exceeding 87 V. Electronic components in these systems must be designed to withstand the applicable transient conditions.
With a drain source voltage rating of 100 V, Diotec’s DI009N10PQ-AQ offers voltage headroom for automotive power switching applications, including lighting control and load switching.
Conduction Efficiency and High-Temperature Capability
Conduction losses are an important consideration for efficient power-switching circuits. The DI009N10PQ-AQ features a typical on-state resistance of 103 mΩ which contributes to the power dissipated by the MOSFET during conduction and must be considered when evaluating the thermal performance of the switching circuit.
Packaged in a PowerQFN 5×6 case outline, the DI009N10PQ-AQ offers a compact solution for space-constrained assemblies. Moreover, the maximum junction temperature of 175°C makes Diotec’s DI009N10PQ-AQ suitable for automotive applications exposed to elevated operating temperatures.
With a continuous drain current rating of 9 A and AEC-Q101 qualification, the DI009N10PQ-AQ is suitable for automotive lighting, load switching and other power-control applications where voltage withstand capability, thermal design and component reliability are important.
