Diotec Delivers 600 W TVS Protection in a Low-Profile SMAF Package
As vehicle electronics continue to become more densely integrated, engineers are facing an increasingly familiar challenge: delivering robust circuit protection within ever-smaller available spaces. For applications such as automotive dashboards, infotainment systems and air-conditioning controls, every millimetre of PCB and package height can matter. Diotec Semiconductor is addressing this challenge with the TPSMA6L28A-AQ, a low-profile transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode designed to combine high pulse-power capability with a significantly reduced package height.
The diode uses a low-profile SMAF package with approximately half the height of a conventional SMA package. Despite its compact form factor, it provides a level of transient protection traditionally associated with larger packages.
Compact protection for automotive electronics
The TPSMA6L28A-AQ has been developed for precisely these types of space-constrained applications. Its low-profile construction can provide greater flexibility when PCB assemblies must fit behind trim panels or within tightly packaged dashboard modules.
It is specified for 600 W peak pulse power and a 28 V standoff voltage, providing protection against transient voltage events that could otherwise damage sensitive downstream electronics.
As an AEC-Q101-qualified semiconductor, it is also targeted at automotive applications where component reliability and qualification are key considerations during component selection.
Rather than compromising protection performance to meet mechanical constraints, engineers can consider a TVS solution specifically designed around the available space.
Designed for the next generation of vehicle electronics
For technical buyers, the package also highlights a broader trend in automotive semiconductor development: smaller does not necessarily have to mean less capable. As electronic systems continue to shrink, semiconductor manufacturers must deliver protection devices that meet both electrical and mechanical requirements.
With the TPSMA6L28A-AQ, Diotec demonstrates how package innovation can help maintain robust transient protection while addressing the increasingly limited space available in modern automotive electronics.
