Advanced Energy Industries Inc. launched the ruggedized DF150 160 W AC-DC power supply. This is the first offering in the company’s Defiant Future (DF) series of robust, high-reliability standard power supplies for extreme-environment applications across the defense, industrial, telecommunications, transportation and energy sectors.

Backed by rigorous validation testing, the DF150 power supply features a broad spectrum of MIL-STD certifications, combining proven performance with the shorter lead times of a standard power supply. It is certified to MIL-STD 810H, withstanding harsh conditions including shock, vibration, altitude variations and thermal extremes. DF150 also provides enhanced electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance with certification to MIL-STD 461G. The unit delivers a nominal 27 VDC at 6 A (160 W) with no performance degradation across its extended operating temperature range of -46ºC to +60ºC. With its IP67 rating, DF150 is fully submersible and exceeds MIL-STD ingress protection requirements for dust and liquids.

"The Defiant Future family is designed to deliver uninterrupted power to critical applications where reliability is non-negotiable,” said Joe Voyles, Advanced Energy’s Vice President, Industrial Power Conversion Products. “The DF150 marks a significant step forward in what is possible from a standard commercial defense power supply. It delivers the performance and breadth of MIL-STD certifications often associated with custom-designed solutions with the availability and lead-time advantages of a standard commercial product."

The DF150 delivers up to 91% efficiency at full load. It operates with no minimum load and low leakage (275 µA at 230 VAC). Its MIL-STD-461G certification includes RE102, CE102, CS101, CS114, CS115, CS116, CS118 and RS103. Advanced Energy offers the DF150 with conduction cooling via a base plate or convection cooling with a mounted heatsink. Other options include various input cable configurations and case colors.
