There is no doubt: the energy and mobility transition as society’s biggest challenges, are having a profound impact on semiconductor technology. This is why sophisticated, low-loss electronic components are essential for turning modern concepts such as solar and wind energy or e-mobility into reality.

Components such as third-generation IGBTs or MOSFETs in SiC technology play the main role when it comes to increasing the efficiency of converters and inverters and at the same time further optimizing their reliability.

One of the fastest growing manufacturers of such components is the Chinese semiconductor producer StarPower. Founded in 2005, the company from Jiaxing near Shanghai is dedicated to the development and manufacturing of power modules and discrete components based on third-generation trench IGBTs and MOSFETs using SiC (silicon carbide) technology. SiC transistors are characterized by particularly low switching losses, which in turn reduces the effort required for cooling and thus enables very compact designs. These are available in a wide range of standard and customized housings for use in a wide variety of applications.

It ranges from inverters for industrial use - for example for automation technology or welding machines, for uninterruptible power supplies and for solar and wind power plants. And, of course, for an area of application that is currently in the spotlight: electric vehicles, whether hybrid or fully electric. The power range served by StarPower products is correspondingly broad - it extends from 0.5 kilowatts to over the 1 megawatt. StarPower's product range is densely diversified so that designers and developers can find a practically tailor-made solution for every requirement within this gigantic bandwidth.

These semiconductors, which are at the forefront of technological development, are produced in state-of-the-art fabs. A high degree of automation in production and testing ensures consistent quality at a high level. The production facilities and processes comply with the international quality management and environmental standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and the automotive standard TS 16949. In addition to its European headquarters in Switzerland, StarPower operates a research and development center in Europe, in the Franconian metropolis of Nuremberg. This R&D center focuses on the development of new technologies, materials and packages for future generations of power electronic products. In addition to StarPower's in-house experts, customers and interested parties can also obtain advice and support from trained staff at distributors and certified dealers.
