PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS PCB Manufacturing: These are the biggest players
Related Vendors
A “Printed Circuit Board”, commonly called a PCB, is manufactured in multiple stages using cutting-edge machinery, and automation. The article names the top PCB manufacturing countries in the world based on statistics like market share, import-export numbers, revenue, industry valuation, and other metrics. It also lists some global players (companies) that manufacture PCBs.
Top PCB manufacturing nations
Paul Eisler, an Austrian inventor, developed the world’s first PCB in 1936– 89 years ago! It took years for the technology to be commercially available. Fast forward to the 21st century, over a hundred million PCBs are manufactured annually. The current PCB market stands at USD84.24 billion.
In 2023, USD47.8 billion was traded in PCBs. PCBs attained a rank of 89 among a list of top 1217 exported products. China ranked top among exporters. There should be a huge difference between PCB export and import numbers. It indicates a positive trade balance, an economically beneficial factor.
The list of top PCB manufacturing countries seems to be a collection of Asian countries, rather than American or European. Asia dominates the electronics industry with some of the largest PCB manufacturing units. Other than Asia, Germany and the USA rank in the top 10 PCB manufacturing countries. Some other established PCB manufacturing countries include Singapore, the Philippines, Spain, Romania, Austria, and the UK.
China: The PCB Captial
China has been a big player in manufacturing PCBs for the past two decades. Every year, the country exports more than 300 million PCB units worldwide. In 2023, China exported PCBs worth USD 17.5million. The Chinese PCB market was valued at USD43.22 billion in 2024, expected to grow at a CAGR of about 3 % up to 2030.
China exported 14.1 % more PCBs in December 2024 than in December 2023. The reason for Chinese dominance in PCB manufacturing is high-end technology, availability of materials, and an affordable yet highly-skilled workforce. Some Chinese PCB manufacturing companies include Z.D.Y Group, PCBWay, and Allpcb.
Taiwan: The Island of PCBs
Integrated circuits (semiconductor chips) are the top most exported products from Taiwan, while PCBs rank 13. Closely competing with China, since 2021, Taiwan is so far the second-largest PCB manufacturing nation with a production area of about 684 million sq ft.
In 2023, Taiwan accounted for PCB exports worth USD5.1 billion and imports worth USD3.49 billion to various countries like China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia. Some Taiwanese PCB manufacturing companies are Unimicron Technology, Compeq Manufacturing Co. Ltd, and Tripod Technology Corporation.
Japan: Rising Printed Circuits
In the list of top PCB manufacturing countries, Japan is the third country that exported PCBs worth USD3.8 billion in 2023. Some reports suggest that the PCB market in Japan witnessed a dip in 2019, and again in Covid. However, Japan quickly recovered to stand at 7.95 % of total PCB export share in 2023.
By November 2024, Japan accounted for PCB exports worth USD265 million. Nippon Mektron– the parent company is among the world’s largest PCB manufacturers with a revenue of about USD4.98 billion. Some Japanese PCB-manufacturing companies

South Korea: “Seoulful” PCB Manufacturing
South Korea occupies the fourth position in the list of top PCB manufacturing countries. The country has an advanced infrastructure and the right engineering talent to produce top-notch PCBs. In 2023, South Korea exported PCBs worth USD3.46 billion. In the same year, South Korea became the eighth largest importer of PCBs worth USD2.12 billion to countries like China, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
In December 2024, South Korea exported PCBs worth USD338 million. South Korea manufactures a wide range of PCBs for consumer electronics, automotive, industrial, and various sectors. Some South Korean PCB manufacturing companies are Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Korea Circuits Co. Ltd, and BHFlex.
Thailand: PCBs Beyond Holidays
Apart from being a famous holiday destination, Thailand is a growing nation in terms of technology and manufacturing. The country is the fifth largest exporter of PCB in the world. Out of all the nations, between 2022-2023, Thailand is among the fastest-growing PCB manufacturers.
In 2023, Thailand exported PCBs worth USD1.73 billion. In the same year, Thailand imported 18 million PCB units. However, the country imports more PCBs than it exports. Some PCB manufacturing companies in Thailand are Apex Circuit, Amallion Enterprise, Autech Thailand, and Bluechips Microhouse.
