Amkor, one of the world’s leading providers of semiconductor assembly and test services, has announced plans to construct a new $2 billion advanced chip packaging facility in Arizona, USA. This development is particularly notable as it is strategically positioned to complement TSMC’s Fab 21, which is located nearby.

In a rare move, Apple has publicly confirmed its role as the primary customer for this new facility, significantly boosting the project's profile. The facility, set to be located on a vast 55-acre manufacturing campus near Peoria, Arizona, will focus on serving sectors such as automotive, high-performance computing, and mobile applications. Although specific production capacities and supported technologies have not been disclosed, it is expected to encompass a broad spectrum of 2.5D and 3D packaging technologies.
