Automotive Auxiliary Drive Using Diotec's Power MOSFET DI100N10PQ-AQ

When designing automotive auxiliary drives, it is always critical to meet the best compromise between size and efficiency. Increased efficiency by low RDSon values saves energy and reduces heat generation, which in consequence increases reliability and lifetime.

MOSFETs with low RDSon require however big die sizes and thus case outlines, like the traditional D-PAK or D²PAKs. Both are not really suitable for space saving board assemblies.

The QFN5x6 package is the ideal solution for these automotive design challenges. It measures 5 mm by 6 mm at just 1 mm of height, and offers anyway an ultimate electrical performance due to low package resistance and inductance. The thermal performance of this package is equivalent to that of the standard packages listed above. The DI100N10PQ-AQ from Diotec Semiconductor is a 100 V N-channel Power MOSFET ready to deliver highest current demands of up to 80 A. Its very low on-state resistance of typically 4.5 mOhm helps to reduce power loss and thus junction temperature.

It is used in all kind of automotive drives for water and oil pumps or similar.
