3rd Gen Schottky SMS560-3G: Free-wheeling diode for Cooling Fan Drives
An electronic fan is vital for maintaining the ideal temperature in electronic devices, as it prevents overheating and safeguards their delicate components.
The 5 A/60 V SMS560-3G Schottky diode plays a key role in the cooling fan drive circuit. Typically, such fans are driven by a small DC motor, controlled by a MOSFET and a free-wheeling diode. Though the SMS560-3G offers 60 V and is thus perfectly suited for 24 V industrial DC mains, it has the same low forward voltage drop as the formerly 40 V Schottky versions. At 5 A, it is less than 0.57 V, minimizing energy losses and thus generating heat.
As such, the SMS560-3G greatly contributes to the fan's performance and enhances the longevity and dependability of electronic devices.
